Farewell tour for old Merseyrail fleet
Customers, train enthusiasts and people from across the country will get a special opportunity to say farewell to a retiring stock of trains which have served the Liverpool city region since 1978. Merseyrail’s Class 507 fleet is being phased out following the introduction of a brand-new, state of the art train fleet. In order to make sure the much-loved old fleet is given a proper send-off, Merseyrail and the Branch Line Society will be hosting two farewell tours. The first tour, called the Wirral Swan Song, will take place on Sunday 15 September on the Wirral line.
Three peak challenge team smash charity target
A seven-strong team from Merseyrail has raised more than £11,000 for charity after they completed the Three Peaks Challenge by rail at the weekend. The amazing Merseyrail team were transported by train to climb Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis.

No hurdles for Grand National racegoers thanks to Merseyrail's outstanding service
More than 103,000 journeys were made by racegoers travelling to and from The Grand National Festival at Aintree Racecourse thanks to a dedicated timetable that saw a seven-and-a-half-minute service. Merseyrail once again supported the world-famous sporting festival, giving away 5,000 pairs of its famous flip flops, delivering live music and entertainment to customers at Moorfields, Liverpool Central and Aintree stations - as well as introducing the extra services to get people to and from the event.
